Dean and His BFF

This afternoon I had a surprise visit from Elsie and Dean who were running errands in the neighborhood.  At least that's the story Elsie tells.  I suspect Dean was asking for some quality snuggle time with his BFFs (Marvin and Shamus) but she's too proud to say it...

Anyhoo - needless to say it was ridiculous.  Not just because the kitties are enormous and tower over Dean.  But because Elsie and I (being the tards we are) forced both kitties and Dean into snuggle positions.  Ah - kids and pets are the best...

Next time we'll take video (especially if we can get Dean and Marvin to spoon again).  That sheesh is going straight to CuteOverload.com.

Scoops of Heaven

Met Elsie and Sar in Tiburon yesterday for a walk and lunch (at Sam's - yums!).  The weather was beautiful and we had a great time.  But the absolute best part?  The ice cream we had afterward.  Oh - it was heaven in a waffle cone.  Seriously...

John Norris? Eek!

So I'm watching MTV on a lazy Sunday afternoon (my new favorite atrocity "Gs to Gents" was on...) when I catch a glimpse of MTV VJ John Norris during a commercial.  Um, hello?  Is it just me or is he the creepiest looking guy on television (besides Flavor Flav, of course).  No, he's never been a Hunkasaurus Rex but I feel like something has gone quite wrong.  As if with each passing year he morphs more into a Keebler Elf.

The Prince of Darkness

The next time you see my mom ask her to do her Ozzy "Prince of Darkness" imitation.  Seriously - do it.  I dare you.

We just drove back from the city (lunch with my grandmother - yums!).  My mom starts talking about how she loves some show called "Americans Are Talented!" hosted by Sharon Osbourne.  Then segues into how she doesn't like Ozzy (or Black Sabbath) but saw a few episodes of "The Osbournes" and is still laughing about the time Ozzy declared himself the "Prince of Darkness".  Ay dios mio...

Hot Guy, Unfortunate Name

Christian Bale is a fox.  This we know.  But his name is awkward, yes?  Christian.  Christian.  It's not easy to say.  Or is it just me - do I have a (gasp!) speech impediment?!

When he and I marry (which is only a matter of time) I'll have to use a nickname.  I'll call him Jack.  Or Cupcake.  Or Sue.  Anything but Christian.

"That's Straight Gangsta!"

Overheard today:
person #1:  "The military is an option if you're interested in joining."
person #2:  "That's straight gangsta!"
IAH (to myself):  "Heh?  What does that mean?"

You Had Me At Fried...

Just came back from lunch at Bakesale Betty with Loraine and Tami - and it was hella good!

We all had the fried chicken sandwich.  Yes, fried chicken and cole slaw on a roll.  So simple...so dreamy.

We were tempted by the strawberry shortcake (or "SS" as Tami would say) but the line was too long :(

Waffle House Wedding

Is this sad or precious? I can't decide. Wish I'd been invited to the reception - I heart waffles!

For DKR

I still can't believe you called her!

This Is Some Silly Sheesh

Just like in the real world, Lando Calrissian is the best part ("another Colt 45, Billy Dee?").

These Are a Few of My Favorite Things (part deux)

Clap your hands everybody and everybody clap your hands.

Independence Day Amid Avocados

I spent the holiday weekend in Fallbrook (the avocado capital of the world [and, per Wikipedia, home of Tony Hawk - who knew?]).  Missy and I went to visit our friend Mel and her family.

The road trip's highlights:
  • running into an old Jamba colleague at In-N-Out Burger near Magic Mountain
  • playing iPod "name that tune"
  • driving through Claremont - home of my alma mater
  • first visit to Chick-Fil-A (but only to use the bathroom)
  • meeting Mel's three month old daughter Giovanna
  • lounging on the beach in Oceanside
  • sipping lots and lots of wine :)
The last stretch of freeway before reaching Fallbrook is called "Avocado Highway" - how totally dreamy is that?!  My inner Homer Simpson (don't we all have one?) envisions snacking my way through roads made of guacamole and trees of avocado slices on the Avocado Highway (but sadly it's just regular freeway and stuff...).

Two Great Tastes That Taste Great Together

The Sweet 'n' Lo's (my favorite old-timey country band) singing my favorite Loretta Lynn song.

I think I'll put on the "Coal Miner's Daughter" DVD, curl up in my Holly Hobby sleeping bag and daydream about Tommy Lee Jones...

Lunch and Laughs

Had lunch today with two of my favorite pals:  Jessyka (aka Jessice) and Lori.  We giggled and gossiped the afternoon away - a wonderful time :)

FYI - try the pomegranate cider at Cato's.  It rocks!
