Milk

Milk.  It rules my life.  I'm serious.

I don't consume vast amounts of milk (daily in my coffee and in an occasional bowl of cereal or oatmeal).  It's not the quantity that rules my life.  It's the availability and the expiration date.

Availability:
I freak out if I run out of milk and don't have any for my morning coffee (although I always have "emergency milk" reserves [soy milk and/or Horizon shelf-stable milk]).  And "freak out" isn't an exaggeration.  Just ask Loraine or The Tami (if you dare).

Expiration Date:
I feel like I'm always juggling milk expiration dates and trying to maximize them.  I have no idea how long after the stamped date milk is still potable (though I'm sure that info is just a quick Google search away).

For example - yesterday (2.20) I finished a milk dated 2.16.  This morning I opened one dated 2.26.  When I realized I only have five(+?) days to consume this milk it troubled me.  I'm not going to lie to you - it caused me a bit of agita.

Ay, dios mio.  It's so hard being me.

I'd like to chat more about my milk obsession but I have to get up and make myself another cup of coffee (remember - I only have five more days to consume all this milk!).

A ho in Tahoe

Did I tell you that I spent last weekend in Lake Tahoe?  Yes, it's true.  Went with Michelle and four friends of hers (one of whom has a house in North Lake Tahoe:  free lodging = yes, please!!).

Above is an action shot of me driving in snow.  Yes, snow.  Those who know me know that IAH wasn't made for inclement weather.  But, well, stranger things have happened...

The weekend was fun.  Lots of laughing and a long guitar singalong session.  Jean played all my faves but when she said she knew a handful of Carpenters songs I almost #1ed myself with happiness (as Michelle was declaring "OMG - you just found your secret twin").

For Sarah

New 'do

I've got a new 'do and color (after three hours spent at the hair salon yesterday - yeesh!!!).

The new 'do includes bangs.  What what (in the butt)?!

Bangs are very new and foreign to me.  It'll take a while to get used to.  Only wish I'd remembered that I have a cowlick at the front of my scalp before "going all the way".  Oh well...

I don't know karate but I know crazy

Oh, how I love this song. And, seriously - I need to say "I don't know karate but I know crazy" more often. Well, because it's true.

Note to self: Have Elsie sew me a cape with her new sewing machine (and Bedazzle my initials on it).

Oh, yeah!

I'm watching Saturday Night Fever on television.  It doesn't get much better than this...

I remember watching this as a kid.  Thankfully at the time I didn't understand how sad the story is.  I was too smitten with the music and disco dancing (you know - because that's how I rolled in the late 70s).  My family used to have the soundtrack (on 8 track, of course) and would listen to it incessantly.  Can't tell you how many dance routines that 8 track inspired.  Oh, yeah.  Nothing like a rump shaking, finger pointing, hair flipping five year old (yikes!).

Watching this reminds me that John Travolta used to be a hunkasaurus rex.  Of course, my Travolta of choice will always be Vinnie Barbarino.  But now he's nothing like he was in his fox days.  What happened?  I blame it on Scientology.  Xenu steals your hotness.  Shame...
