P 'n' P

P 'n' P.  You just can't beat it.  Some call it "Platypus and Pantalones".  Some say it's "Penis and Pencils" or even "Peanuts and Pirates".  Call it what you will - it's just a great time at Lanesplitter.

Last night's highlights:
  • Jemmy's "best Korean"
  • The Tami's dirrty jokes
  • Loraine's country shirt debut
  • Elsie freaking out about "girl in the olive shirt"

Damien2008

Yikes!  I had dinner at Chow (oh, how I love Chow!) last night with Sarah and Michael.  Amidst the yummy food and yip yap I glance up and am awestruck by what I've just spotted.  Let's just call this child Damien2008.  Why?  Um, because he's the doppelganger for Damien in the original Omen movie.  Yes, it's true.  I'm not exaggerating.  I swear.  Was it creepy?  Oh, yeah.

Now, while I don't know if he was marked with the number of the beast he still made me very uneasy.  For reals.

Are you trying to seduce me, JLo?

Lately it seems like every photo I see of JLo is all about bedroom eyes and "you know you want to French me" lips.  What's the deal?  If she wants to make out with me all she has to do is ask.  This pose is making her look desperate.  And I don't make out with "desperate".  Well, only sometimes.  But just to first base ;)

"Fix yourself, girl - you've got a camel toe!"

I had forgotten how much I love this song.

Over the weekend I was watching "Harold and Kumar Visit White Castle". This song (no lyrics, unfortunately) was in one scene. I laughed hella hard and then immediately grabbed my iPod and played it four times.

For Juan Jose

My other fave. I'll be singing "Oy! Oy! Oy!" all day now :)

These are a few of my favorite things

Lately there are two songs that I can't stop listening to on iTunes. I'm obsessed. For reals.

Who doesn't love Adam Ant? Is it the pirate clothes? The eyeliner? I just don't know. What I do know is that I love him. With all of my black little heart.

My other iTunes obsession -
The Streets of Bakersfield. It's all about the accordion. Oh, yes...accordion.

Brown sugar - how come you taste so good?

Attention brunch fans!  Run (don't walk) to Brown Sugar Kitchen.  Went there this morning with Loraine, Elsie and Dean.  And it was hella good.  Loraine had a breakfast sandwich on croissant (yes, please!).  Dean didn't eat.  Elsie had egg and veggie tart and a biscuit.  Dude - this biscuit was heaven on a plate.  I'm not exaggerating.  Me?  I had the usual (eggs, bacon and toast).  It was delish.  What a great way to kick off a Wednesday morning :)

"Everybody's merkin for the weekend!"

On Saturday Elsie, Dean, Jemmy and I were having a lovely brunch at Lee's house.  Suddenly Jemmy mentions a "merkin".  I'm all "Heh?".  Elsie's all "Yeah, merkin".  Jemmy's all "How do you not know?".  I'm all "What is it?".  They're all "It's a pubic hair wig".  I'm all "How did this exist and I didn't know about it?!".

So in an effort to educate you as my friends educated me - I hereby introduce you to the merkin.  Please to enjoy...

Hey good lookin'!

Picture this:
Friday night @ The Knockout. Hank Williams tribute night. That's right - Hank Williams (not Bocephus). Loraine and me with skirts, boots and red lipstick.  We start off by singing "Jambalaya".  Later we do a fierce rendition of "Hey Good Lookin'".  The crowd went wild.  Well, maybe not "wild" but, you know...

Don't be a "don't"

Jemmy found this gem of a website.  Of course.  Because she's hella hip and sheesh.  So please read it and educate yourself.  And for the love of Crystal Gayle - don't be a "don't"!

TCB

Yesterday is the day that Loraine and I christened "Everybody Precious" (because they were).  It started with the guy at In 'n' Out Burger.  Then all of the guys at Hank and Frank (yes, all of them - and we were there for ninety minutes...).

But the absolute most precious of all?  The guy at Juniper Tree on Lakeshore (which I had to visit on the recommendation of the woman that works at my neighborhood Peet's).  I was at the register purchasing a head band/ scarf number (very cute, BTW).  The guy at the register is totally darling (the most fierce mutton chop sideburns I've seen in a very long time - meow!).  I open my wallet to hand him my credit card and he asks for ID.  I pull out my license and he says "Great picture" after seeing the photo of Elvis I keep in my wallet (where an ID would go - but why?).  He's all "I'm a huge Elvis fan".  I'm all "Wow - me, too!".  He's all "I've been to Graceland five times".  I'm all "I've only been twice :(".  He laments the changes in the neighborhood surrounding Graceland (it's all about junky tchotchkes).  I'm all "I've got a picture of Elvis in my bathroom that I bought at this dumpy store on Beale Street years ago".  He's all "Must have been Schwab".  I'm all "Yes!".  Then it's time to leave the store and as Loraine and I walk out he says "Bye.  TCB!" while giving us "gun finger".  I swooned...

I did it!

I finally committed and bought a bike - I can hardly believe it!  Yes - I only talked about it all summer, visited multiple bike shops and yapped about it incessantly.  But now the search is over...

Yesterday, with my trusty pal Loraine at my side, I walked into Hank and Frank and did it.  I got myself an Electra Townie.  Oh, yeah - and a basket and bell, too.  You know, because that's how I roll.  Or will roll when I get my bike this weekend (it was at their other store, needs to be shipped to Oakland and then built).  WOOT!!

IAH + SLS = good times!

Went to the A's game last night with Sar - good times!

It was my first time with diamond level seats.  All I can say is that it's like that scene in GoodFellas where they enter the club through the back door and walk through the kitchen on the way to their table - and everybody knows their name.

Besides that it was just hella fun to hang out with Sar.  We gossiped, giggled and snacked.  It doesn't get much better than that, does it?
